Wireless Remote Control Unit "E" Mk.II

Wireless Remote Control Unit E was developed for remote R/T or CW operation of Wireless set No. 19 at a distance of a mile. The complete system comprised principally two similar Wireless Remote Control Units E. The unit at the local end is connected to Wireless Set No. 19 by means of the snatch plug and jack provided on the Conversion Unit. The Local Unit is connected to the Remote Unit via a two-wire telephone line. A local operator is ALWAYS necessary. (Go to the Wireless Set No. 19  page for the front panel view of the No. 19 set).

• Wireless Remote Control Unit E is principally a modified and extended Wireless Remote Control Unit B which was originally developed for use with Wireless Sets No. 2, 3 and No. 9.
• Difference between Mk.I and Mk. II is that the initial Mk. I model has a wooden carrying case and the later Mk.II version a metal case.
• Other Wireless Remote Control Units in use with Wireless Set No. 19 were Wireless Remote Control Units H, Junction Remote Control No. 1 and No. 2, and Canadian Wireless Remote Control Unit No. 1 (Can).
• Provision is made for connecting to a telephone exchange, either at the local or remote position.

Detail view of Wireless Remote Control Unit E Mk.II. The Conversion Unit (mounted above the Morse key) is an additional item, and was introduced to make the original Wireless Remote Control Unit B suitable for use with Wireless Set No. 19. The Morse key is a standard Key WT 8 Amp No. 2 Mk.III, an all bakelite moulding. Other versions of this key can also be found on the Wireless Remote Control Unit E.
